## What it does

Blackmagic shipped agent control as a product feature in Resolve Studio 21.1 (8 Sep 2026): the NLE hosts its own MCP server and configures the client for you from inside the app, so an assistant can read a project, organize media, cut, grade, adjust settings and batch render through Resolve scripting without a community bridge in the path. For anyone already paying for Studio this is the shortest route from agent to timeline, and the first one whose lifecycle is tied to Resolve releases rather than a maintainer.

Listed 20 Sep 2026 after Blackmagic's own release text finally confirmed the feature: the download description for DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 (8 Sep 2026) says it 'adds new individual MultiMaster trims on the color page, integration with AI assistants and 20 new scripting APIs with built-in console support', while the free 21.1 description says nothing of the kind — which is the paywall, in the vendor's own words. Read the sourcing carefully before you trust the details. Blackmagic publishes no web setup page, no endpoint and no tool list; the only first-party documentation is the 183 MB Resolve 21.1 Reference Manual PDF linked above, which we confirmed exists but could not read in this environment. The File > Setup AI Assistants menu path, the named clients (Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex) and the widely repeated figure of 88 tools all come from that manual as reported consistently by trade coverage, not from a page we fetched — verify them in your own copy of Resolve before relying on them. Same caveat on the report that 21.1 moved Python scripting out of the free edition: if that holds, it also undercuts the free-edition workarounds the community servers rely on, so check your Resolve build before assuming those still work. We have no live tools/list, hence a null tools_sample. Practical comparison: davinci-resolve (samuelgursky) is far better documented, covers Resolve 18.5+ including older builds, and is the option if you are not on Studio 21.1; davinci-resolve-ai-bridge is the lighter Free-first alternative. This entry exists because first-party support changes the maintenance risk, not because it is the richer toolset.
