## What it does

Stockfilm's hosted MCP puts a vintage home-movie archive — real 8mm and Super 8 reels scanned in 4K, spanning the 1930s to the 1980s — behind six agent tools: text, year and location search, clip metadata, visual similarity lookup, a rights check, an auto-assembled rough cut, and per-clip licensing. For a filmmaker it covers the one thing generative video cannot legitimately produce: authentic period texture with provenance. Connecting takes no account or key, so an agent can search and build a timeline before anyone spends anything.

## Field notes

Verified live on 16 Aug 2026 by initialising the endpoint and reading tools/list: six tools, no auth on connect. The catch is checkout. license_clip does not deliver a file — it returns an x402 payment endpoint and wants $10 in USDC on Solana or Base, so you need an x402-capable agent framework or wallet; there is no card path inside the MCP. Stockfilm's own site quotes $149 per clip for a royalty-free 4K master direct, and $79–$299 through Pond5, so confirm what resolution and rights the $10 buys before you build a delivery on it. Its numbers also disagree with themselves: the server advertises 217,000+ clips, the website says 162,000+ from ~1,600 reels across 121 countries. Scope is narrow by design — amateur home movies only, no news, sport or studio material; for those see getty-images in this directory. Listed in the official MCP registry since Mar 2026 under a second hostname, https://mcp.stockfilm.com/mcp, which also answers; the vendor's own docs point at api.stockfilm.com, used above.
